The Advisor to the President for Free and Special Economic Zones was present at the 2-day meeting of the managing directors of the country's free zones. He stressed on cooperation and coordination between the free zones. At the meeting, which took place at the Arvand Free Zone, Mahmoud Salahi pointed out to his appointment as Advisor for Free and Special Economic Zones and thanked the President and his cabinet for their special attention to Free and Special Economic Zone issues and said: "We must make the most of this appointment to develop Free and Special Economic Zones. Therefore, we are making efforts to describe a more active performance for these zones with the organisation of the Secretariat. Other organisations have also declared their support for the Free and Special Economic Zone projects". He added: "Higher education is expanding in the free zones with the backup of the President, and good investments are being made in this field and other relevant areas. Of course, there is much work still left to be done considering the potentials and advantages at work in these zones". Salahi continued by stressing on the cooperation of the managing directors with public opinion and clear reporting to officials, the people, and the media, and said: "The President's clear orders are to attract investment in the Free and Special Economic Zones. The managing directors of these zones must present lucid programmes and pursue this matter as the direct responsibles of these zones. The Secretariat will also play a guiding role in attracting investment and give its utmost help to these zones". He mentioned the upcoming 5th Free and Special Economic Zone exhibition in Dec/January in Kish, and added: "This exhibition is an opportunity to show the achievements and abilities of the free zones and discuss the expectations by investors of the free zones. Therefore, all Free and Special Economic Zones must be actively present in this exhibition".
