The UNESCO representative in Iran stressed on cooperation in Kish Island expansion projects
The UNESCO representative in Iran said: "As a good consultant, UNESCO can cooperate with KFZO on the further development of Kish Island. At a meeting with the KFZO MD and the heads of the UN agencies in Iran, Chon Lee Hun added: "Currently, UNICEF works as a consultant on the development of three islands in Korea, Vietnam, and China". He stated that UNICEF has a special programme for the development of small islands in the world, and added: "If the programme is successfully carried out for the Hindurabi Island, we can implement it for other islands of Iran and the world". He stressed: "As tourism is considered in the 20-year comprehensive programme for Kish, therefore, the presence of domestic and foreign tourists on the island needs to have services provided with an infrastructural programming. Hun said: "The environmental study of the Persian Gulf by UNESCO is under way and we can hold our conference on this beautiful island, if Kish is prepared for it. At this meeting, the KFZO MD asked the UNESCO representative in Iran to put the information on the development experiences of the said three islands at Iran's disposal. Majid Shayesteh added: "This year, as a successful island, Kish carried out the programme for the support of sea turtles laying and hatching eggs, which was very interesting for tourists". According to him, due to a clean environment, 350 deer live freely in various parts of Kish Island. Shayesteh pointed out that 160 species of decorative fish live in the corals around Kish Island, and added: "A photography centre will soon be established in Kish in order to see the underwater world".
